Aeromet has developed a unique product add-on that allows you accommodate coils with different inside diameters on the same reel. Our quick-change filler plates save time when you change coil ID sizes, and they make the changeover extremely quick and much safee for your maintenance personnel when compared to conventional style filler plates. They can even be designed to install on your existing reels!
Aeromet has developed an exclusive hardening process utilizing ion nitriding in conjunction with H40 (pre-hard) alloy material. We use this process to achieve a 52+RHC surface hardness. Ion Nitriding is not a coating that can chip or flake off, but an actual case hardening of the drum skin approximately 0.015" in depth.
offers extreme durability while providing an excellent gripping surface. Finishes are available from 50 - 600 RMS. Surface coating material for mandrel segment surfaces is normally D-30 tungsten carbide, which can yield a hardness up to 72 RHC. Carbide-coating is used for low-impact applications only.
If your application requires, Aeromet can provide certification for carbide surface finishes, whether you need an ultra-smooth finish or an aggressive, highly-textured finish.
has proven to be extremely effective for the "Slip Core" type recoiling industries. Aeromet recommends a coating thickness of 0.003- to 0.005-inch per side for most plated-mandrel applications.
